AGG Expands Into Boston With Team of 18 as Part of Client-Driven Growth Strategy
BOSTON, November 2, 2026 – Arnall Golden Gregory LLP (AGG) announces its expansion into Boston with the opening of the firm’s third office and the addition of Intellectual Property partners Nathan T. Harris, Angelyn Larkin, Ph.D., and Craig R. Smith and associate Kevin M. Eckert. The move is part of AGG’s strategic plan under managing partner Sean P. Fogarty and reflects the firm’s continued investment in markets and capabilities that support its clients’ business needs.
The group joins Stephen N. Provazza and Nicholas P. Tsimortos, who are already based in the city, giving AGG an even stronger presence in a region that is home to many of the industries and clients the firm serves.
Boston is a natural market for AGG, given the firm’s substantial life sciences client base and the region’s position as a leading center for biotechnology, healthcare, technology, and scientific innovation. The new office will strengthen AGG’s ability to advise clients locally while supporting continued growth across its Life Sciences, Healthcare, and Intellectual Property practices.
Nate, Angelyn, Craig, and Kevin join AGG’s Intellectual Property practice, bringing experience in patent prosecution, trademarks, brand protection, and IP litigation. Each has a distinct area of focus, and the four have spent years working closely together, providing coordinated counsel across a broad range of intellectual property matters. They are accompanied by patent agents Alexander Donovan and Emily Forster; technology specialists Gwen Buel, Samantha Gargaro, Sibo Lin, and Smruthi Rudraraju; and a team of supporting paralegals, assistants, and specialists to round out the founding team in Boston.
“Expanding into Boston is a deliberate part of our broader strategic plan and aligns with meaningful opportunities to better serve our clients,” said Sean. “A significant number of our clients have ties to the region, particularly in industries where AGG has substantial depth. Establishing an office here puts us closer to those clients and gives us a strong base for long-term investment in one of the country’s leading business and innovation centers.”
AGG’s Boston office is located at One Financial Center, in the heart of the city’s Financial District, where the firm is developing a larger, custom-designed space to accommodate anticipated growth in the region in 2027 and beyond.
Nate Harris Expands AGG’s Trademark and Brand Protection Capabilities
Nate helps technology-driven companies build, protect, and enforce their brands, advising established companies, emerging businesses, and startups on trademark prosecution and counseling, global portfolio strategy, copyright matters, domain name recovery, and enforcement. He also represents clients in trademark disputes in federal court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, including opposition and cancellation proceedings. With a computer science background and experience in software patents, Nate brings technical fluency to intellectual property matters involving software, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other emerging technologies. He is active in the intellectual property community through the International Trademark Association and Boston Intellectual Property Law Association.
“Boston has a distinct innovation economy,” said Nate. “Companies here value advisors who understand both their intellectual property and the business behind it. As startups mature, the legal questions quickly extend into areas such as financing, employment, and commercial matters. At AGG, we can stay alongside those companies through each stage and bring in colleagues across the firm as new issues arise.”
Angelyn Larkin Bolsters AGG’s Life Sciences Patent Capabilities
Angelyn works with life sciences companies at every stage of growth to develop patent portfolios that support both scientific innovation and business objectives. Her practice includes U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, portfolio development, and intellectual property due diligence across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, gene editing, RNA vaccines, medical devices, and other life sciences technologies. She also advises on intellectual property matters tied to venture financings, public offerings, acquisitions, and strategic collaborations. Before practicing law, Angelyn worked as a research scientist and completed postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School after earning her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from MIT. Her scientific research has appeared in peer-reviewed publications, including Nature Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, and Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry.
“AGG’s platform and experience give me the ability to serve life sciences clients well beyond patent prosecution, from transactional matters to regulatory counsel and more,” Angelyn said. “This breadth allows us to continue approaching patent strategy the way we always have while bringing additional resources to the wider legal and business challenges our clients face.”
Craig Smith Adds Trial-Tested IP Litigation Experience
For nearly 30 years, companies ranging from startups to Fortune 50 businesses have turned to Craig for complex intellectual property litigation, patent and trademark protection, and strategic IP counseling. He is a trusted advisor to high-tech clients who need to protect and defend their intellectual property. Craig advises clients across industries, including software and artificial intelligence, consumer products, biotechnology and medical devices, automotive technologies, and industrial and manufacturing systems. He has obtained successful trial and appeal verdicts in patent and trademark cases, as well as the International Trade Commission.
“Clients facing IP litigation need lawyers who have actually tried these cases and understand the client’s business and objectives,” Craig said. “AGG’s full-service capabilities give our clients access to a talented bench of litigators and counsel who can assist with across broad array of legal issues.”
Kevin Eckert Strengthens AGG’s Patent and IP Litigation Capabilities
Kevin focuses his practice on IP litigation and patent prosecution and counseling. With a background in electrical engineering, he leverages his technical knowledge to advise clients on patent matters involving software, electronics, acoustics, consumer products, and mechanical systems. Kevin’s litigation experience spans patent, trademark, and trade secret disputes in federal courts, and post-grant review proceedings in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
