AGG Expands Washington D.C. Office with Healthcare and Cross-Border Enforcement and Compliance Partner Murad Hussain
WASHINGTON, D.C., July 15, 2026 – Arnall Golden Gregory LLP (AGG) is pleased to welcome Murad Hussain as a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He joins AGG’s Healthcare, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Government Investigations, and International Trade practices, as well as the firm’s Life Sciences industry team, and will serve as AGG’s chair of Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) Compliance. Murad’s practice focuses on defending healthcare providers and life sciences companies in government investigations, False Claims Act (FCA) qui tam suits, and Medicare disputes, and on representing domestic and international clients in cross-border enforcement, compliance, and litigation matters.
“Murad is an exceptional trial lawyer and litigator who has built an outstanding reputation representing healthcare providers, life sciences companies, and cross-border operators in their most significant civil and criminal enforcement matters and government-facing litigation,” said Sean Fogarty, AGG’s managing partner. “His arrival further strengthens our nationally recognized healthcare platform and enhances our full-service counsel for domestic and international clients as they face increasingly complex regulatory and enforcement challenges.”
Clients turn to Murad when facing high-stakes investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), state attorneys general, and other federal and state regulators. He combines seasoned trial experience with business-focused counsel to defend physician practices, hospital systems, life sciences companies, and others in government investigations, criminal prosecutions, civil enforcement suits, and administrative civil monetary penalty proceedings. He has successfully defended clients in federal criminal jury trials, won dismissals of FCA lawsuits, negotiated declinations and other favorable resolutions of complex investigations and litigation, and brought affirmative litigation against the government to vindicate his clients’ rights.
Murad is a trusted advisor to healthcare providers across the country and frequently advises medical practices specializing in outpatient vascular care (including interventional cardiology and interventional radiology), Mohs surgery, wound care, and ophthalmology. The Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society (OEIS) has honored Murad as a “Distinguished Friend” in recognition of his service to its members. “As the son of a cardiothoracic surgeon, I am deeply passionate about advocating for healthcare providers who dedicate their lives to serving patients,” Murad said. “AGG’s longstanding commitment to healthcare providers, its collaborative culture, and its deep bench of healthcare advisors and former government attorneys make it a perfect home for my clients and their regulatory, corporate, and enforcement needs.”
Murad also represents multinational companies, investors, foreign-funded U.S. entities, and others in cross-border matters involving export controls and sanctions, customs and tariffs, and FARA. His recent work includes representing an international technology manufacturer in ongoing litigation challenging the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Entity List determinations, and successfully helping a U.S. global electronics distributor secure the removal of its foreign subsidiaries from the Entity List.
“I was drawn to AGG’s vision for the future and its multidisciplinary approach to healthcare, international trade, and life sciences matters,” Murad added. “The firm’s continued investment in D.C. has built a versatile platform for serving clients whose legal needs increasingly cross borders as well as traditional practice boundaries. I’m excited to help expand AGG’s capabilities and help our clients navigate today’s fast-evolving legal landscape in D.C. and beyond.”
Murad clerked for the Honorable Ellen Segal Huvelle of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. He earned his J.D. from Yale Law School and his B.A. in psychology, magna cum laude, from Harvard University.
Beyond his client work, Murad is an adjunct professor of trial practice at Georgetown University Law Center and serves on the board of directors of Legal Services of Northern Virginia. He was also appointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia to the faculty of the Virginia State Bar Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Course. A recognized thought leader on government enforcement and compliance issues, Murad regularly writes and speaks on the FCA, FARA, healthcare enforcement, and emerging regulatory and compliance trends.
