J. Grant Wilmer Jr. is a partner in the Commercial Real Estate Practice and the Private Wealth Practice. Mr. Wilmer has practiced in the areas of commercial real estate for more than 30 years and private wealth for more than five years. Mr. Wilmer is co-leader of the Family Business Practice, a former chairman of the Real Estate Practice, and a former member of the Executive Committee.

Mr. Wilmer focuses his practice on the purchase, development, financing, operation and sale of mixed use projects, regional and super regional shopping centers, neighborhood strip centers, apartment complexes, office/industrial parks, hotels and parking lots. He has extensive experience in structuring transactions and joint ventures and limited liability companies and the negotiation, drafting and review of partnership, limited liability company, acquisition, sale, financing, management, reciprocal easement and development documentation for developers, investors, purchasers, and sellers. Having practiced in this area for more than 30 years, Mr. Wilmer has extensive experience in understanding and addressing both the issues and goals of the parties involved as well as the complexities of the underlying real estate transaction. He also has experience in estate planning, succession planning and addressing other issues that are special to family businesses and closely-held companies.

Mr. Wilmer has a special interest in antique automobiles and is the former director of the local region of the Classic Car Club of America. Mr. Wilmer has also been interested in the arts and is past chair of the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Foundation. He has also provided pro bono real estate legal advice to the Center for Puppetry Arts for more than 30 years.
