Biography

Suzanne is a partner, vice-chair of the Private Wealth Practice, and co-chair of the Tax-Exempt and Charitable Organizations Practice. A Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, she is included in the Chambers High Net Worth Guide for Private Wealth Law. She is also included in Best Lawyers in America, and was named Atlanta Lawyer of the Year for 2018 in the specialty of Trusts and Estates. Since 2004, Suzanne has been selected for inclusion in Georgia Super Lawyers, where she has been named one of the top 50 female lawyers in Georgia. She is also an AV Preeminent Rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell, appearing in Georgia’s Top Rated Lawyers.

Suzanne focuses her practice on complex wealth transfer planning for high net worth clients, including international estate planning, sophisticated post mortem planning and administration, business succession planning and charitable planning.  She also works on a broad array of issues pertaining to the needs of tax-exempt entities.  A Certified Public Accountant as well as an attorney, she is an author and frequent lecturer on estate planning topics, including co-author of the comprehensive publication Georgia Estate Planning, Will Drafting and Estate Administration Forms, and has appeared as a tax law commentator for CNN, including appearances on Daybreak, In The Money and CNN Today.

In addition to her law practice, Suzanne is active in several professional and civic organizations, including the Board of Trustees of the Woodruff Arts Center, the Emory University Board of Visitors, the Emory University Planned Giving Council, the Atlanta Estate Planning Council, the Duke University Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee and the Duke University Atlanta Women’s Forum, of which she is the past co-chair. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Capital City Club, including as its Secretary-Treasurer, the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, including as its Treasurer, the Board of Directors of Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta Inc., the Planned Giving Council for Piedmont Hospital and the Board of the Parents Association of The Westminster Schools.
