On October 11, 2025, AGG Healthcare Litigation partners Rich Collins and Damon Eisenbrey presented at “UPLIFT & UPHOLD: Mental Health, Addiction Recovery, and the Law,” a Mobilize Recovery Campus Surge 2025 event held at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and co-hosted by the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School.

The program featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Keith Ellison, Minnesota attorney general, and Brian Cuban, attorney, author, and recovery advocate, who delivered the keynote address.

The symposium and networking event brought together law students, practicing attorneys, counseling students, behavioral health professionals, and members of the recovery community. The program explored the intersection of law, mental health, addiction recovery, and policy, as well as how legal, academic, treatment, and peer communities can collaborate to reduce stigma, influence public policy, and promote well-being.

Rich and Damon led an interactive session titled “Policy Advocacy and Litigation as Tools for Change.” Attendees examined active policy initiatives and real-world case studies addressing systemic barriers to substance use disorder treatment within the health insurance industry. The discussion focused on promoting transparency and accountability among insurers whose policies create obstacles to care and undermine access to life-saving treatment — emphasizing the need to ensure patients and insured individuals receive timely, meaningful healthcare benefits for substance use disorder treatment.
