Between the Breach and the Boardroom: Navigating CISO Liability in an Era of Accountability

AGG International Compliance & Risk chair Allison Raley authored an article for Cyber Defense Magazine providing Chief Information Security Officers (“CISOs”) with best practices for reducing personal and organizational risks in an age of increasing personal liability.

Amid escalating federal regulatory crackdowns and high-profile cases against security executives, she provided valuable insight into the mistakes that most commonly put CISOs and other security leaders at risk.

“For those currently in leadership positions, or with aspirations to the same, the future demands technical acumen, documentation maturity, and a strategic mindset in not only protecting the company from cybersecurity risks, but also the professional themselves,” said Allison, a former global general counsel and chief compliance officer for a financial services company.

She also shared guidance on documentation, board visibility, and effective risk communication to help cybersecurity leaders effectively protect both themselves and their organizations.
