Jonathan Golden to Receive Atlanta Business Chronicle's Deals of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award

Atlanta, October 3, 2023 – AGG is delighted to announce that the Atlanta Business Chronicle has selected our partner Jonathan Golden to receive the 2023 Deals of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award.

Describing him as “one of the most experienced dealmakers in metro Atlanta,” the Chronicle newsroom and advisors from the Association for Corporate Growth Atlanta bestowed Jon with the highest honor of the Deals of the Year Awards, which recognize the leading middle market deals driving growth in the Atlanta region and highlight the most impactful transactions that closed between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023, across a breadth of industry categories.

Jon built his legal career spanning more than 50 years through the representation of very large corporations to small businesses. Companies across the table from Jon often became his clients after experiencing his legal prowess along with his calm demeaner during a transaction.

He has guided publicly traded and private companies through significant transactions, playing a key role in ensuring the success of mergers and acquisitions, going-private transactions, and equity and debt financings. He has taken more than a dozen companies from startup to listing on the New York Stock Exchange, including Sysco Corporation, the world’s largest food distribution company. He led Sysco through more than 100 acquisitions, many other public company offerings, and listings on the NYSE. He served on its board for more than 34 years.

Active in Atlanta’s vibrant community, Jon is chairman of The Livingston Foundation and a former trustee of the Southern Center for International Studies and the Woodruff Arts Center.

Jon is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School. For many years, he taught courses on mergers and acquisitions, as well as securities and corporate finance, as an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law.

The Chronicle will honor Jon during the 2023 Deals of the Years Awards ceremony on October 26, 2023, at the Stave Room in Atlanta, Georgia.
