AGG Taps Global BigLaw Attorney Jackie Cooney to Co-Chair Data Privacy Practice in D.C.

Atlanta, July 10, 2023 – Arnall Golden Gregory (AGG) is pleased to announce that Jacqueline “Jackie” W. Cooney has joined the firm as co-chair of its Data Privacy practice group. Jackie brings more than 30 years of experience to the firm as a partner in its growing Washington, D.C. office, which relocated to larger space in January 2023 to accommodate expansion in the region.

“Jackie is a respected leader in the privacy field, having held a top position at her previous international law firm in data privacy and cybersecurity,” said Kevin L. Coy, co-chair of AGG’s Data Privacy practice. “Our firm and clients will benefit from Jackie’s deep experience, particularly in U.S. and EU privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations. Our team is excited to welcome such a talented partner to our D.C. office. Her work and presence will contribute to our continued growth both in the region and nationally and elevate our client service model.”

“Not only is Jackie a well-qualified privacy attorney, but she is also a well-respected female attorney who is joining the growing ranks of female leaders in the firm,” said AGG partner and Technology practice chair Lori L. Brewer. “As the head of our Technology practice, I am honored to continue to be a part of the investment the firm is making in recruiting, promoting, and retaining women in leadership positions at the firm. We are likely among the few female and LGBTQ+-led technology and data privacy teams, and that makes me proud to be a part of AGG.”

Jackie counsels clients in privacy, governance, risk, compliance, and public policy matters. She provides clients with practical, operational, and business-focused guidance on complex compliance and regulatory issues, cross-border data transfers, data protection contracts, and compliant privacy and cybersecurity policies and documentation. She also provides breach response support, including during the first hours of a breach through forensic and government investigations and notifications to individuals and government agencies. She has worked with dozens of clients across all industry sectors, including financial services, fintech, e-commerce, retail, entertainment, life sciences, and private equity, to develop, enhance, and maintain comprehensive, sustainable data protection programs.

Jackie is recognized by The Legal 500 for Cyber Law, Data Privacy, and Data Protection. Early in her career, she served as a legislative assistant on Capitol Hill.

Jackie earned her law degree from the George Mason University School of Law and her undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire.
