Anuj Desai to Speak on Mediating Across Cultural Differences at INTA 2023 Annual Meeting Live+

AGG Intellectual Property partner and head of Trademarks, Anuj Desai, will present the IP and Innovation track session, “Mediating Across Cultural Differences,” at the International Trademark Association (“INTA”) 2023 Annual Meeting Live+ on May 20, 2023, in Singapore.

In an increasingly connected world, counsel for brand owners are routinely expected to represent their clients in multiple jurisdictions with different laws, languages, and cultures. Although they can learn the law, brand counsel may nevertheless have difficulty understanding cultural norms when mediating international disputes, which can lead to unspoken barriers to successful dispute resolution.

The session will include a live roleplaying mediation during which the panel will play out several scenes that would typically occur in mediation. These scenes will demonstrate some top tips on how to conduct a successful mediation by avoiding cultural faux pas. The roleplaying mediation will be set in Singapore.

INTA’s 2023 Annual Meeting Live+ will connect the most influential brand professionals from across the globe and industries at the largest gathering of its kind. The conference will be held in person from May 16-20, 2023, at the Sands Expo & Convention Center. The conference will also be held virtually from June 27-29, 2023.
