On December 5, 2023, AGG Healthcare of counsel Alan C. Horowitz presented to the Colorado Medical Directors Association on the topic of “Medical Aid in Dying (MAID): Legal, Medical, and Ethical Issues.”

Eleven jurisdictions have legalized MAID and more than a dozen others have pending legislation regarding this controversial practice. Legal cases have seen some courts support it while others refuse to find a constitutional right for a physician or patient to participate in MAID. Medical organizations are spilt on their support for MAID while polls reveal most Americans support it. Alan’s presentation addressed the intersection of medicine, law, and ethics from a primarily legal perspective.
