Darryl Scott Laddin is a partner and chairman of the Bankruptcy, Creditors’ Rights and Financial Restructuring Practice, and served for many years on the firm’s Executive Committee.

Mr. Laddin has a national practice that focuses on a broad range of commercial, litigation and bankruptcy matters, including:

  • the restructuring of commercial indebtedness and creditors' rights, under the Bankruptcy Code and the Uniform Commercial Code, on behalf of debtors and creditors (including secured lenders);
  • serving as counsel to major creditors in large Chapter 11 cases involving complex bankruptcy, jurisdictional, procedural and other legal issues for those creditors;
  • handling small as well as multi-million dollar complex commercial litigation matters in Bankruptcy Court and District Court (including defending preference, fraudulent transfer and other avoidance claims as well as claims for violation of the automatic stay and discharge injunction);
  • documenting commercial loans for financial institutions, including asset-based lending arrangements, and representing financial institutions in debt restructurings, workouts and forbearance arrangements;
  • obtaining asset recoveries on behalf of clients who have been defrauded;
  • issues affecting airlines and the leasing of aircraft;
  • representing Official Creditors’ Committees and the creditors who serve as chair of such committees in all aspects of Chapter 11 cases; and serving as a Trustee of Litigation Trusts under confirmed Chapter 11 Plans.

Mr. Laddin is frequently quoted by major local and national news publications on the topic of bankruptcy and reorganizations. Prior to beginning his private practice, Mr. Laddin clerked for the Honorable James C. Hill on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
