AGG: You built a dynamic real estate practice at AGG advising investors, developers, and financial institutions across the country. What experiences at AGG contributed most to your professional growth?

My time and experience at AGG truly molded me into the attorney I am today, with a full 360-degree view of the lifecycle of a commercial real estate transaction. The firm gave me the exposure I needed to be able to look at a deal from all perspectives (including developer, lender, or investor) and stages (from ground-up construction to stabilization and redevelopment), to provide the appropriate counsel to clients.

AGG: You’ve transitioned from private practice to serve as Vice President in PCCP’s Closing Group. What excites you most about this next chapter?

I’m excited to continue to be involved in interesting and complex projects. I also am eager to be able to see a portfolio develop, from the investment committee decision-making process to resolving on the other end and understanding how all the moving parts fit into a larger picture. Not having to worry about billable hours is a bonus as well!

AGG: How has your time at AGG prepared you to lead multifaceted transactions from the client side?

My experience at AGG taught me how to juggle multiple transactions at once, translate the overall client objectives into final deal structuring and transaction documents, and focus on each specific detail that may be overlooked. I have been able to translate each of these skills to lead from the client side by prioritizing what aspects of the transaction need to be elevated for higher review from those that can be addressed at the deal team level. I also learned when to step in and question a decision that is being made to ensure the client understands the downstream implications.

AGG: What are the biggest trends or shifts in the commercial real estate market you’re seeing right now?

What is most noticeable to me right now are regional market changes — the parts of the country that are actively building versus those that are holding steady or declining — and the types of projects that are being developed in different markets.

AGG: You are actively involved in professional and community organizations. How has mentorship and service influenced your career journey?

Mentorship has been crucial to my career and professional development. I had amazing mentors at AGG and continue to see them as such. Having someone in your corner to both guide and encourage you, as well as light the potential pathways ahead of you, is something that cannot be overemphasized in this industry. As a result, I always look for opportunities to pay it forward for the next generation of lawyers coming behind me.

AGG: What advice would you give to young attorneys — particularly those interested in real estate?

Stay curious. There is not one path that works for everyone, and real estate is truly a multifaceted industry where no two deals are exactly alike. Ask questions, stay flexible, and always try to think outside of the box to solve problems creatively.

AGG: Looking back on your time at AGG, is there a favorite memory or milestone that stands out?

Making partner was very special to me. To be honest, I did not think I was ready, but thanks to the encouragement of others and advice of mentors, I stepped out of my comfort zone and did something that scared me. I am a better lawyer today because of it.

AGG: Outside of work, what keeps you inspired?

My family is my world. Seeing younger cousins, nieces, and nephews grow up in a world where they can legitimately be anything they want to be motivates me to continue being a role model.

Marissa’s journey reflects the lasting impact of strong mentorship, diverse experience, and a willingness to embrace new challenges. Her continued success is a testament to the foundation built at AGG and her commitment to growth, leadership, and service.
