WellStar Receives Inaugural Lewis C. Horne Jr. Economic Development Excellence Award

ATLANTA – WellStar Health System is the first recipient of the Development Authority of Fulton County Lewis C. Horne, Jr. Economic Development Excellence Award. The award event was held at Arnall Golden Gregory on Feb. 21, a year after Mr. Horne’s death.

A partner in the Corporate Practice Group at Arnall Golden Gregory, Lew Horne was a prominent public finance attorney who for many years represented the Development Authority of Fulton County. He died on Feb. 23, 2017.

Mr. Horne also was well known for his community involvement. He served on the board of the American Junior Golf Association and was inducted into the National Black Golf Hall of Fame. He was a strong supporter of minority attorneys.

The Lewis C. Horne Award recognizes a business leader that has greatly contributed to economic development in Fulton County. WellStar has invested approximately $362 million to acquire three hospitals in South Fulton, Atlanta and North Fulton, and is particularly supportive of the career development of women and minorities.
