Newspaper Gives ‘Most Effective Deal-Maker’ Award to Arnall Golden Gregory Partner Althea Broughton

ATLANTA — Arnall Golden Gregory is pleased to announce that the Daily Report newspaper, which covers the legal industry in Georgia, has honored Real Estate Partner Althea J.K. Broughton with its “Most Effective Deal-Maker” award.

The award is one of the Daily Report’s annual Georgia Legal Awards, given to attorneys in the state who are especially impactful. The awards dinner takes place on June 28.

Ms. Broughton is co-leader of Arnall Golden Gregory’s Real Estate Practice Group and its Affordable Housing Team, and is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

Her legal work builds on her passion for the development of affordable housing, and she has had particular success in neighborhoods where the development and preservation of affordable housing have been of paramount importance.

In her practice, Ms. Broughton represents developers and owners in structuring and closing commercial real estate transactions, focusing on conventional, mixed-income and affordable housing development transactions.

She advises on joint ventures, public/private partnerships, conventional equity and debt financing, and the use of various forms of federal, state and local subsidies, including low-income housing and other tax credits. Ms. Broughton also represents equity funds and financial institutions in federal tax credit investor transactions.

Ms. Broughton is a member of the Governing Committee for the American Bar Association Forum for Affordable Housing and Community Development, and is a fellow in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.

When the Atlanta Beltline Partnership was seeking additional expertise on affordable housing, Ms. Broughton was asked to join to support its mission of fostering relationships, creating awareness and advocating for policies around the Beltline.

She was a member of Leadership Atlanta Class of 2013 and won the National CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Impact Award for Economic and Community Improvement in 2014 for her legal work for the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
