Matt Wilson Quoted in Law360 Article Addressing Georgia’s Music Festivals, Gun Laws

AGG Entertainment & Sports team co-leader Matt Wilson was quoted in a Law360 article titled “Georgia’s Gun Laws May Turn Off State’s Music Festivals” on August 5, 2022.

A 2019 Supreme Court of Georgia opinion stated that firearms can be carried on almost all public property. The cancelation of Music Midtown, a long-running music festival held in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park, is speculated to be related to Georgia’s gun laws and has brought attention to the issue.

Matt noted that organizers behind major events scheduled through summer 2023 are “certainly looking very hard at this,” further stating that industry trade organizations are already exploring what kind of lobbying pursuits may be available.

“It’s certainly ripe for some aggressive lobbying,” Matt said. “The loss of those events will have a larger ripple effect than people realize.”

Throughout the article, Matt provided his insights on what promoters and event organizers are facing, liability insurance for festivals, and more.
