ATLANTA – Arnall Golden Gregory is pleased to announce that partner Kevin L. Coy in our Washington, D.C., office earned the ANSI-accredited Certified Information Privacy Professional Europe (CIPP/E) credential through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Mr. Coy advises a wide range of privacy-sensitive organizations on privacy, data security and data breach laws and regulations.
The CIPP is the global standard in privacy certification. Developed and launched by the IAPP with leading subject matter experts, the CIPP is the world’s first broad-based global privacy and data protection credentialing program. The CIPP/E is the first professional credential specific to European data protection professionals that is part of a comprehensive, principles-based framework and knowledge base in information privacy.
The CIPP/E encompasses the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other pan-European and national data protection laws, the European model for privacy enforcement, key privacy terminology and practical concepts concerning the protection of personal data and trans-border data flows.
Mr. Coy is a leading adviser on compliance with the GDPR, which became enforceable in May 2018, and regularly presents on how it impacts international business. He also holds the CIPP/US credential, which demonstrates a strong foundation in U.S. private-sector privacy laws and regulations and understanding of the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to and from the U.S., the EU and other jurisdictions.
Mr. Coy is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the world’s largest association for information privacy professionals.
