AGG Entertainment & Sports co-chair Matt Wilson will speak on a panel discussing the topic, “Performing Rights Organizations 101,” hosted by the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia on February 27, 2023, from 12-1 p.m. EST at the State Bar of Georgia

Matt and fellow panelists will address what performing rights organizations (“PROs”) are, why they exist, the alternatives to paying PRO fees, and what to tell clients about their legal obligations. They will dive into what the federal government has to say about PROs and explain fractional licensing and the consent decrees in place for ASCAP and BMI. Additionally, they will cover how PROs work with songwriters and publishers to distribute royalties collected through their blanket licensing program.
