Alan Horowitz to Present ABA Webinar on Sexuality and Dementia in Post-Acute and Long-Term Care

AGG Healthcare of counsel Alan C. Horowitz will participate in an American Bar Association webinar titled “Sexuality & Dementia in Post-Acute and Long-Term Care” on March 19, 2024, at 12:45 p.m. EST.

This session examines successful risk management strategies centered on respecting resident rights and safety for skilled nursing facilities dealing with the challenges of cognitively impaired residents who are or desire to be sexually active. Although federal and state laws allow residents with decision-making capacity (‘DMC”) to consent to sexual intimacy with another, many forms of Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias are characterized by varying levels of legally competent decision-making, frequently making both legal concerns and medical management difficult.
