EPA Makes Webinar Materials on Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals Regulation Available

Until the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) schedules additional live webinars on its new hazardous waste pharmaceuticals rule published in February, healthcare facilities, reverse distributors and reverse logistics centers covered by the rule can access an audio recording and written materials from the EPA’s March 4, 2019 webinar to gain a better understanding of the new management standards for hazardous waste pharmaceuticals. Although the rule takes effect on August 21, 2019, only the ban on sewering hazardous waste pharmaceuticals becomes binding on that date throughout the country. The rest of the new requirements will not become effective in RCRA authorized states (all states other than Alaska and Iowa) until 2020 or 2021 when each state must incorporate the new standards into their own programs. All affected providers need guidance now in order to achieve compliance by the effective date of the rule.

To help navigate the new regulatory framework, Arnall Golden Gregory attorneys Brooke F. Dickerson and Jennifer L. Hilliard will present a one-hour complimentary webinar on Thursday, May 2 entitled “Are You Ready? The Clock is Ticking to Comply with New EPA Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals Rule.” The speakers will outline the complexities of the new rule, what the rules means for you and your facility and what to do next given the short time frame to prepare.

Register now to learn the possible implications for a range of healthcare facilities including: hospitals, health clinics, skilled nursing facilities, long-term care facilities, in-patient hospice facilities, pharmacies, and others.
