Biography
Ed is a partner in the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Employment practices.
A large part of Ed’s practice involves counseling companies regarding a variety of employment and labor issues. These include handling client labor portfolios (including collective bargaining agreement negotiations and grievances), background screening, remote work arrangements, employment and separation agreements, risk management, restrictive covenants (including non-competes), employee discipline, investigations, ADA accommodations, workplace violence, managing leaves of absence and complying with FMLA and state leave requirements, reduction in force (“RIFs”), WARN Act compliance, policy and handbook drafting, wage-and-hour compliance, and NLRA compliance for unionized workforces.
Ed also serves as an independent investigator, investigating allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, as well as claims made by purported whistleblowers. Additionally, Ed routinely conducts employment-related due diligence for clients on M&A deals, advising both buyers and sellers on employment risk and liability.
Ed also has extensive experience representing employers in proceedings involving government agencies such as the EEOC, OSHA, and the DOL. This includes drafting EEOC position statements, assisting with OSHA investigations, and negotiating settlements with the DOL for wage-and-hour violations. Ed also represents a wide range of employers before state and federal courts and defending them against various claims, including single-plaintiff and class allegations of employment discrimination, failure to accommodate disabilities, sexual harassment, wrongful and retaliatory discharge, breach of contract, and violations of the FMLA and wage-and-hour laws.
Experience
Served as U.S. counsel to an Indian multinational IT solutions company in the purchase of outstanding shares of capital stock the stock of a U.S.-based provider of data and analytics-driven technology solutions.
