Ryan is an associate in the Healthcare practice and a member of the firm’s Hospitals & Health Systems industry team.
Ryan focuses his practice on healthcare transactional and regulatory law – specifically for hospitals, health systems and other institutional providers. His healthcare practice deals with Medicare fraud and abuse analysis and advice, including physician self-referral and anti-kickback issues. His practice also focuses the sale and acquisition of healthcare facilities, regulatory due diligence (state and federal), privacy and security compliance (HIPAA/HITECH), licensure issues, and certificate of need (CON) applications. Prior to joining AGG, Ryan represented a large healthcare system in Augusta, Georgia as an in-house staff attorney.
Apart from practicing law, Ryan has significant clinical and non-clinical experience working as a registered nurse and researcher at small community hospitals and large academic medical centers.
In addition to being a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Georgia Hospital Association, and the Health Law Section of the Georgia Bar, Ryan has a certification in Healthcare Compliance from Seton Hall University School of Law.
Ryan graduated magna cum laude from the Georgia State University College of Law. While in law school he was a member of the Health Law Transactional Moot Court Team and participated in the Health Law Partnership Legal Services Clinic.
In the spring of 2015, Ryan was honored with the Health Law Award for Outstanding Achievement in Health Law, given jointly by the Georgia Bar Association and Georgia State University Center for Law, Health and Society. Ryan has also served as a Fellow with the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorney’s, which offered a split appointment between the Georgia Hospital Association and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Ryan serves on the Advisory Board for Georgia State University’s Center for Law, Health and Society.
