Becki is of counsel in the Intellectual Property practice and a member of the Entertainment & Sports industry team.
Becki focuses her practice on copyright and trademark counseling. Every business and many individuals will encounter copyright and trademark issues at some point. Becki understands that copyright and trademark are more than just legal matters for her clients: they are ways to protect an artist’s creation, a brand’s identity, marketing content, or a company’s core product. In addition to trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement, Becki’s practice involves collaborating with clients on a strategic and practical approach to growing their intellectual property portfolios. Becki’s practice also involves copyright prosecution and enforcement, licensing, domain name enforcement, anti-counterfeiting efforts, Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedowns, protection of cannabis-related trademarks, rights of publicity, and various entertainment law issues. Becki has represented clients in disputes in federal district court and in front of the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).
Becki is an advisory board member for Georgia Lawyers for the Arts and has written a children’s book about intellectual property. She was named a Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” in Intellectual Property for 2021. Becki worked in the entertainment industry for 10 years as a publicist, marketer, and event planner. She also owned her own public relations firm, so she has firsthand knowledge of the challenges involved in starting and running a business. Becki plays the drums when she gets a chance.
