Biography
Drew is an associate in the firm’s Litigation and Intellectual Property practice groups and focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation involving intellectual property, health care, and real property.
As a part of his intellectual property practice, Drew has extensive experience prosecuting and defending claims of trademark infringement and unfair competition. Drew has also represented clients in copyright ownership disputes, patent inventorship disputes, and in connection with allegations of counterfeiting and trade secret misappropriation. Drew also regularly counsels clients on intellectual property matters, including trademark counseling and brand management.
In his healthcare practice, Drew counsels and represents hospitals and health systems on compliance and in litigation under Federal civil rights laws, including Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Drew also has experience representing health systems in civil rights investigations brought by the Department of Justice and the Office for Civil Rights at the Department of Health and Human Services.
Experience
Represented one of the largest health systems in the Southeast in an investigation by the Department of Justice into an allegation of discrimination against a patient with mobility disabilities.
Assisted in the defense of multi-million dollar international patent inventorship dispute related to the use of ultrasonic drying technology in the paper manufacturing industry.
Assisted in obtaining summary judgment against $24 million RICO and trademark counterfeiting claims brought by a Fortune 50 airline company.
