On August 27, 2010, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule promulgating new and revised standards for Medicare durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) suppliers. The standards are more stringent and aimed at reducing fraud and protecting Medicare beneficiaries.
