Feds Turn Up HEAT on Medicare Fraud

On June 24, 2009, the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) jointly announced indictments of 53 doctors, health care executives, therapists, and even patients for submitting more than $50 million in false Medicare claims. The criminal indictments were brought in Detroit, but the arrests took place across the country, including in Denver and Miami.
