11th Circuit Court of Appeals Affirms 10-year Sentence for Clinical Director in Medicare Fraud Case

In the latest example of the potentially severe sentences that can be imposed for those convicted of health care fraud, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals on October 15, 2008 affirmed the conviction and ten-year prison sentence of the clinical director of a Florida psychiatric hospital for her role in a bribery, or kickback, scheme. United States v. Richards, ___ F.3d ___, 2008 WL 4590411 (Oct. 15, 2008).
