On October 26, 2009, AGG Partner Tycho Stahl was quoted in an article on GlobalAtlanta.com titled, “German-Owned Company Will Build Factory in Georgia.” Gustav Weigard North America LP, a U.S. affiliate of a German steel manufacturer, has chosen Meriwether County, located about 50 miles southwest of Atlanta, as the site for its $7 million factory. The plant is expected to open by mid-2010 and will initially hire approximately 30 employees, with plans to expand to 50 within three to five years. While searching for a factory site, Wiegard executives also heavily considered two cities in Alabama, Auburn and Pell City. However, according to Mr. Stahl, who represented Weigard in the search, Meriwether County was selected because of its “very positive business environment.” He said, “The Meriwether Industrial Authority, the county, the State of Georgia, the Metro Atlanta Chamber and local business community all put their shoulders together and pulled in the same direction to make this happen.”
