The story, “With 18 Sister Cities, Atlanta Still Lacks International Department,” compares Atlanta to its European sister-city Nuremberg, Germany, which has a government department made up of 10 employees to manage its international affairs. Nuremberg fosters 14 "twin cities" relationships like the one it shares with Atlanta. The city of Nuremberg even gives scholarships to writers and journalists from these cities, bringing the awardees to visit Germany for two weeks. Ms. Simmons, who leads AGG’s International Business Practice Team and German Business Team and chairs the Atlanta Sister Cities Commission, says that Atlanta can learn from Nuremberg’s international efforts to promote its global profile.
