AGG Partner Neil C. Gordon was interviewed by Consumer Investigator Jim Strickland of WSBTV Channel 2 Action News in a story titled, “Some Businesses Haven’t Paid Property Taxes for Months,” which ran on March 15, 2010. The story describes how, due primarily to bankruptcies, several counties are losing money in unpaid property taxes. Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner Katherine Meyer claims that she’s trying to collect more than $2.5 million in unpaid property taxes. Mr. Gordon says that if a bankruptcy case has collapsed, then they can pay with the value of the property, but often the property has been taken as well. He continues, saying that oftentimes the companies want to and maybe even can pay the property taxes, but the process is slow because they have to follow procedures in bankruptcy court.
