On Sept. 11, 2012 the rankings service Best Lawyers announced that Robert Rothman had been named the “2013 Atlanta Litigation – First Amendment Lawyer of the Year.” Only one lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is honored as the Lawyer of the Year. The recognition reflects the high level of respect a lawyer has earned from other leading lawyers in the same community and practice area for ability, professionalism and integrity. Mr. Rothman has substantial experience handling complex business and commercial litigation in state and federal courts as well as in arbitration and mediation. A former journalist, Mr. Rothman has a particular interest in media law and represents several media companies. He is a member of the American Bar Association Board of Governors. Previously, Mr. Rothman served as chair of the 65,000-member ABA Section of Litigation. He is the author of numerous articles on developments in commercial litigation, including one that explained how two recent U.S. Supreme Court opinions affected the manner in which lawyers should draft complaints in federal court cases.
