Arnall Golden Gregory Wins White Collar Defense Litigation Award

Arnall Golden Gregory was co-winner of the White Collar Defense award in the Fulton County Daily Report’s annual Litigation Department of the Year competition.

AGG’s White Collar team, led by partner Aaron Danzig, a former Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, was recognized for “achieving success for clients facing the Securities and Exchange Commission.”

AGG represented well-known businessman and philanthropist Parker H. “Pete” Petit, who was prosecuted by the SEC for allegedly providing insider information to a friend who bought stock in a company Petit led shortly before the company was sold.

Aaron and his team convinced the SEC to dismiss its prosecution. The client did not have to pay the government and he was not restricted from serving public companies in any capacity.

Jennifer ShelferEdward Marshall and Sara Lord, who is based in AGG’s Washington, D.C. office, also worked on the Petit defense team.

The firm’s Government Investigations and White Collar Crime Practice represents clients involved in government enforcement agency investigations, internal investigations, criminal investigations and trials.

AGG’s submission to the competition described other significant matters as well: representation of a large healthcare provider in a $38 million settlement of a False Claims Act investigation; a forensic audit of Clayton County Ga.’s Finance Department; representation of two cardiologists in a False Claims Act investigation; and defense of a hospice provider in a False Claims Act investigation.

The Litigation Department of the Year section will be published on November 19 and the awards will be given at a dinner that night.
