Arnall Golden Gregory congratulates clients The Integral Group and Worldpay for winning two of the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Best in Atlanta Real Estate Awards.
Integral won “Land Deal of the Year” for its acquisition and planned redevelopment of the 165-acre former GM auto plant in Doraville, Ga. Worldpay won “Office Deal of the Year” for its decision to relocate its U.S. corporate headquarters to Atlantic Station in Midtown Atlanta.
Arnall Golden Gregory has been Integral’s counsel since 1993, when Mr. Egbert L.J. Perry founded the company.
A team of Arnall Golden Gregory attorneys and staff, led by Jonathan Eady, co-leader of the firm’s Real Estate Practice, assisted Integral with acquiring the Doraville property, where Mr. Perry plans to build a unique “city within a city.”
Preparation for the GM site demolition, which will continue for most of 2015, included months of purchase agreement negotiations and due diligence, much of which involved understanding the environmental impact of a decades-old vehicle assembly plant.
John Spinrad, head of AGG’s Environmental Practice, assisted Integral with entering the property into Georgia’s Brownfield program.
Worldpay announced in December 2014 that it planned to move its U.S. headquarters to the 201 17th Street building, bringing hundreds of new workers to Midtown Atlanta by 2016, with many more to follow.
Russell Arouh, a partner in AGG’s Real Estate Practice, represented Worldpay in the lease negotiations. Worldpay is a leading global provider of payment and risk services, processing millions of transactions every day.
US CEO Tony Catalfano said in a company statement, “Worldpay intends to showcase Atlanta as a global payments capital by partnering with leading local academic and research institutions to attract the developers of next-generation mobile applications and point-of-sale solutions that integrate payments.” Catalfano chairs the American Transaction Processors Coalition (ATPC), which is based in Georgia.
