AGG Recognition at ABA Annual Meeting

The American Bar Association has recently recognized several partners at the annual meeting held in San Francisco.

Marva Jones Brooks was awarded the Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award. The Brent awards are bestowed upon women who have achieved professional excellence in their field, opened doors for women lawyers, and advanced opportunities for women in our profession. Past recipients include Supreme Court Justices Sandra Day O’Conner and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Around 1500 lawyers and members of the judiciary attended the luncheon where this award was given, and Marva’s professional and personal accomplishments were featured in a wonderful video themed around her philosophy “Always take the high road.” In her remarks, Marva paid tribute to her partners and colleagues at AGG who have supported her through the years.

Robert L. Rothman was installed as the Chair-Elect of the Litigation Section of the ABA. The Litigation Section is the largest section of the American Bar Association and is dedicated to helping litigators become more effective advocates for their clients. As Chair-Elect and then Chairman in 2008-2009, Bob will have an important role in advancing the Litigation Section’s work as a legal publisher, a provider of CLE programming, a source of news and analysis, and a strong national voice to preserve the vitality of the American system of equal justice for all.

Glenn P. Hendrix was installed as Vice-Chair of the International Law Section of the ABA. The International Law Section actively contributes to a major institutional goal of the ABA “to promote the rule of law in the world.” Glenn has authored several articles and book chapters on international commercial dispute resolution topics and has also served as a private sector advisor to the US State Department on matters relating to international litigation, including service on U.S. diplomatic delegations to Moscow and The Hague. He will become Chairman of the Section in 2009-2010.

Henry R. Chalmers will continue as an Associate Editor of Litigation News Online, which is published six times a year.

Jeffrey C. Adams was recently appointed national Chair of the Multifamily Residential Finance Committee of the Real Estate Section of the ABA.
