Real estate partners Abe J. Schear and Philip G. Skinner completed two major transactions for The William Carter Company, whose Carter’s and Oshkosh stores are iconic brands in the infant and young children’s clothing market. Carter’s signed a 224,000-square-foot lease at The Phipps Tower in Atlanta’s Buckhead submarket. The Atlanta Business Chronicle described the deal as “one of the largest and most valuable leases ever completed in Buckhead.” Yet, it was completed in just a few months. The new space will accommodate employees now working in the Proscenium Building in Midtown Atlanta and at the company’s Shelton, Conn. executive offices. Earlier, in another deal handled by Mr. Schear and Mr. Skinner, Carter’s announced it would invest in a 1 million-square-foot distribution center in Braselton, Ga. near Atlanta. Both transactions were nominated for the Business Chronicle’s “Real Estate Deals of the Year Awards,” which will be announced on Feb. 28, 2013. Carter’s will ultimately employ approximately 1,200 additional people in the metro Atlanta market.
