Team of Attorneys Helps Launch the National Center for Civil and Human Rights

A team of Arnall Golden Gregory attorneys and staff helped launch the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, which opened in June in downtown Atlanta. The team assisted with financing and engaged in negotiations with landowner Coca-Cola on donating the property to The National Center for Civil and Human Rights Foundation, and on construction and operation of the center and its relationship with the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium. The Center for Civil and Human Rights connects the American Civil Rights Movement to today’s global human rights movements so visitors can explore the fundamental rights of all human beings. James T. Bert Levy to Receive the Georgia Planned Giving Council’s 2015 Greater Good Award

Bertram L. Levy, chair of the Private Wealth Practice, has been selected to receive the 2015 Greater Good Award from the Georgia Planned Giving Council. The Greater Good Award recognizes an outstanding member of the Georgia philanthropic community who has served at least 10 years in the field of planned giving. Award recipients have advised charitable individuals in order to increase the quantity and quality of planned gifts to Georgia charities. Their work exemplifies the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning's model standards of practice for the charitable gift planner. The award luncheon will be held on May 7.

Best Lawyers Names Glenn Hendrix Healthcare Lawyer of the Year in Atlanta

Best Lawyers in America, a leader in ranking legal services, has named Glenn P. Hendrix, Arnall Golden Gregory’s managing partner, the 2015 Healthcare “Lawyer of the Year” in Atlanta. Only one healthcare lawyer in the Atlanta metropolitan area receives this honor annually. Best Lawyers relies exclusively on feedback from other leading lawyers in the field in selecting the “Lawyer of the Year.” Mr. Hendrix’s practice includes defending healthcare companies and providers being investigated or facing legal action for alleged violations of the False Claims Act. Fulton County Daily Report Names Edward Marshall a “Rising Star”

The Fulton County Daily Report, which covers legal news in Georgia, named Arnall Golden Gregory partner Edward A. Marshall one of its “Rising Stars: 40 Under 40,” a listing of exceptional young attorneys. Mr. Marshall focuses on resolving complex business disputes, particularly those involving the payment systems industry and employee benefit issues. He is the leader of Arnall Golden Gregory’s Complex Business Disputes Practice, co-leader of the Payment Systems Industry Team, and past chair of the Employee Benefits Section of the State Bar of Georgia.

Chambers USA Guide Recognizes Five Practices, 15 Lawyers for Exceptional Service

The most recent Chambers USA Guide lists 15 Arnall Golden Gregory attorneys and five practices for providing outstanding service. Chambers selections are based upon client references and peer reviews. New to the list this year is Jason E. Bring, a healthcare partner who focuses on long-term care defense. The five Chamber ranked practices are Healthcare, Immigration, Labor & EmploymentLitigation: General Commercial and Real Estate.

Best Lawyers Recognizes More Than One-Third of Arnall Golden Gregory Partners in New Guide

The latest edition of Best Lawyers in America lists 33 Arnall Golden Gregory attorneys, including eight who are new to the guide this year. Best Lawyers’ selections are based on peer reviews. Bertram L. Levy, who chairs Arnall Golden Gregory’s Private Wealth Practice Group, has been listed in the guide since the 1995-96 edition. The eight newly listed attorneys are: Henry R. Chalmers, Commercial Litigation; R. Michael Barry, Healthcare; Jennifer Downs Burgar, Healthcare; Daniel M. Formby, Healthcare; Alan C. Horowitz, Healthcare; Alan K. Parver, Healthcare; Scott F. D.C. Partner Alan Parver Receives the Barney Sellers Public Policy Award 

Alan K. Parver, a Healthcare partner in our Washington, D.C., office, was given the Barney Sellers Public Policy Award at the A.S.P.E.N. Annual Conference “Clinical Nutrition Week 2014.” A.S.P.E.N., the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, is dedicated to improving patient care by advancing the science and practice of nutrition support therapy and metabolism. The award is named after A.S.P.E.N.’s former director, who was instrumental in giving the organization a voice with policymakers. Mr. Parver focuses his practice on policy issues that have helped protect Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP program beneficiaries’ access to critical, life-saving therapies. 

The Legal 500 Directory Says AGG’s Immigration Practice Is a National Leader

The respected directory Legal 500 United States 2014 lists Arnall Golden Gregory as a national leader for “Labor and Employment – Immigration” legal counsel. The listing says AGG “offers specialist knowledge in form I-9 and E-Verify training; audits and worksite investigations; H-1B audits and investigations; employment-based immigration petitions; consular processing; temporary non-immigrant petitions; and advice on student and cultural exchange issues.” Partner Teri A. Genesis Healthcare

Genesis HealthCare LLC, one of the nation's largest skilled nursing and rehabilitation therapy providers, merged with publicly-held Skilled Healthcare Group, Inc., whose subsidiaries operate skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, hospices, home health providers and a rehabilitation therapy business. The all-stock deal closed this month. The combined company will trade on the New York Stock Exchange as “GEN”. More >

Employment Law Seminar a Long-Running Success

Arnall Golden Gregory held its 22nd Annual Employment Law Seminar at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta. The event drew 113 attendees from a variety of industries. Lawyers in the Employment, Litigation, Immigration and Global Migration, Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation, and Privacy and Consumer Regulatory practices made presentations on issues that are top of mind today for employers.
