  • Assisted with the review of agreements for Puma Biotechnology for clinical trials of a new breast cancer medication to be conducted in Russia.
  • Advised a U.S. biotechnology company in connection with clinical trials of a new breast cancer medication to be conducted in Russia.
  • Represent a Salvadorian company in commercial arbitration under UCITRAL Rules against a U.S. distributor.
  • Served as an expert on the issues involving Russian civil and commercial legislation and doing business in Russia.
  • Secured “business divorce” for a private equity fund invested in the development of state-of-the-art microwave technology from Ukraine as a result of the court action against a minority shareholder accused of the breach of fiduciary duty and misappropriation of trade secrets.
  • Secured the recovery in Russia of funds lost by a financial services company due to a multi-million dollar hacking scheme. The matter required the coordination of parallel criminal and civil proceedings in Russia.
  • Assisted Ilim Timber Industry, a large Russian timber processing company, in its $55 million acquisition of Tolleson Lumber Co. in connection with the employee benefits aspects of the transaction.
  • Secured recognition in Russia of a $28 million international arbitration award for a U.S. company owned by prominent New York real estate developer.
  • Advised leading American provider of land registration and property tax management systems on its operations in Ukraine.
  • Obtained an injunction in Cyprus preserving status quo in connection with a shareholders dispute over the ownership of electric power assets in Ukraine involving court proceedings in Ukraine, Switzerland, U.K. and arbitration under the rules of the London Court of International Arbitration.
  • Secured favorable settlement for minority shareholders of a major Ukrainian ferroalloy plant in an action under the Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act (RICO).
  • Advised international investors in all aspects of the acquisition of the ferroalloy and steel assets in the United States including acquisition through receivership and bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Successfully secured stay of the U.S. District Court proceedings in favor of the arbitration under the rules of the London Maritime Arbitration Association.
  • Successfully defended an international consortium, winner of a World Bank contract, against a bid protest action in Ukraine.
  • Secured dismissal of the proceedings in an arbitration claim brought by a Russian coal producer against a U.S. coal trader in the International Chamber of Commerce arbitration in Geneva, Switzerland.
