Robert L. Rothman is a partner in the Litigation and Arbitration Practice. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association's National Roster of Arbitrators.

Mr. Rothman’s practice focuses on assisting clients in evaluating and resolving complex business disputes, whether through negotiation, alternative dispute resolution or litigation. Mr. Rothman has substantial experience handling complex business and commercial litigation in state and federal courts as well as in arbitration and mediation. His cases have involved business contracts, partnership agreements, False Claims Act and other healthcare industry disputes, securities, business torts, fiduciary duties, commercial leases and media law issues.

Mr. Rothman served on the American Bar Association Board of Governors from 2011-2014. Previously, he served as chair of the 65,000-member ABA Section of Litigation. In 2016, he was appointed to the Eleventh Circuit seat on the ABA Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, which reviews the qualifications of candidates for Presidential nomination to the federal bench. He is the author of numerous articles on developments in commercial litigation, including one that explained how two recent opinions of the Supreme Court of the United States have affected the manner in which lawyers should draft complaints in federal court cases. The article, “Drafting Complaints in the Post-Iqbal World,” was published in Litigation, the Journal of the ABA Section of Litigation, Volume 36, Number 4, Summer 2010. As a former professional journalist, Mr. Rothman also has a particular interest in media law and has represented several media companies.
