AGG attorney Andrew J. Schutt has been named to the Board of Directors of Georgia Music Partners (GMP), a nonprofit organization that promotes the music industry in Georgia.

Mr. Schutt, a partner in the Corporate Practice Group, is a member of the firm’s Economic Development and International Business practice teams, and leads the Entertainment and Sports Practice Team.

“Andrew’s addition to the team will boost awareness of the organization, help generate support and influence those who can make decisions to help grow our industry,” said Tammy Hurt, co-president of GMP. “We look forward to his council and his desire to be part of a movement that will have a lasting impact on the state's music industry.”

Mr. Schutt said, "I am excited about the opportunity to work with the GMP team and believe the organization will positively impact job and investment growth in Georgia's music industry."

GMP was formed in 2010 by the Atlanta Chapter of The Recording Academy®, which represents the music community on such issues as intellectual property rights, music piracy, archiving and preservation, and censorship concerns. The Academy produces the Grammy® Awards.

The estimated economic impact of the music industry in Georgia is $3.7 billion annually, according to a study released this year. The study credits the industry with creating 19,955 jobs and generating more than $313 million in tax revenues for state and local governments.

Mr. Schutt advises artists and companies involved in the arts. He has drafted and negotiated numerous agreements related to productions, artists, project financing, options and acquisitions and joint ventures. In addition, he assists clients in securing and utilizing entertainment tax credits.

Mr. Schutt is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, Georgia Economic Developers Association, Association of County Commissioners of Georgia, and Entertainment and Sports Section of the Georgia Bar Association.
