Abe Schear Quoted in AJC
May 23, 2011
AGG Partner Abe J. Schear is quoted in an article titled “Stalled Buckhead Project Gets New Name, Focus,” which appeared on May 23, 2011, in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The article describes a project known as “The Streets of Buckhead,” a six-block, eight-acre mixed-use project announced in 2007 that included condos, four hotels and 500,000 square feet of retail space. The project has been taken over by California-based developer OliverMcMillan and renamed “Buckhead Atlanta,” with plans to open in 2013. The scaled-down vision OliverMcMillan sees for the project include two 20-story apartment complexes, no hotel, little office space, and more walkable streets inside the development. Retail space has been cut to 300,000 square feet, and they plan to draw people in with coffee shops and restaurants. Mr. Schear says the new vision is “a more proper scale for today’s market.”
