Area of Practice
Business Litigation

Mr. Thomason is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group and is a resident in the firm's Macon office. He concentrates his practice in commercial litigation with an emphasis on the Uniform Commercial Code. He represents and acts as local counsel for numerous national corporations with litigation venued in Federal Courts, as well as the State Courts of Georgia. Mr. Thomason's Uniform Commercial Code practice includes litigation governed by virtually all articles of the Code.

Mr. Thomason has also served as a panelist in arbitration proceedings conducted by the American Bar Association, as an appointed arbitrator by the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia and as a special master in Superior Court of Georgia.

    Representative Cases
  • Article 9 cases including a recent matter involving a preference action by a debtor in possession (a cotton merchant) in a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy case against the firm's client (a cotton broker) seeking to recover an alleged preferential payment of approximately $25,000,000.00.
  • Cases governed by Articles 3 and 4 of the Code, including the failure of banks to pay or return checks within the time required by the "midnight deadline."
  • Article 2 cases involving issues of contract formation, disputes as to contract terms, issues of contract performance and breaches of warranty.
  • Litigation arising out of agricultural transactions, including the representation of buyers, sellers and brokers in commodity transactions and the representation of national manufacturers and farm equipment.
