Mr. McAlister is a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group of the firm. He is active in structuring, negotiating and closing commercial real estate acquisitions and loans. He has represented property owners, developers, lenders, landlords and tenants in sophisticated transactions, including the acquisition, disposition, leasing, financing and development of raw land, office buildings, multi-family residential projects, industrial warehouse buildings and retail projects. He has represented developers and investors in the formation and structuring of partnerships and limited liability companies. He has handled commercial foreclosures for institutional lenders. His practice also includes representation of developers in affordable housing transactions involving conventional and subsidized debt and equity financing. Mr. McAlister is a co-author of Kaplan's Nadler, Georgia Corporations, Limited Partnerships and Limited Liability Companies (2002 Ed.).

    Representative Transactions
    • Representation of institutional investor in the acquisition and development of major regional shopping centers across the country, including negotiations of leases and operating agreements with anchor department stores.
    • Representation of developer in the acquisition, financing and development of multifamily residential projects.
    • Representation of national warehouse company in the acquisition, operation and disposition of industrial warehouse properties.
    • Representation of landowners in the contribution of land for a major highway road project and in the disposition and development of adjacent land.
    • Representation of landlord in the negotiation of retail leases to nationally known men's clothing stores for prime retail locations on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
    • Representation of national life insurance company in connection with construction and permanent loans secured by office buildings, apartment complexes and shopping centers.
    • Representation of banks in commercial foreclosures throughout Georgia.
    • Representation of developers in acquisition, financing, development and rehabilitation of multifamily and seniors affordable housing developments.
