Mr. Hackney is a Partner of the firm and is the chair of the firm's Telecommunications Practice Team. From March 1988 to July 1991, he was Senior Corporate Counsel of Contel Corporation, a publicly-held telecommunications company. He represented Contel in its acquisitions, divestitures and other strategic transactions. In addition, he has a broad telecommunications background, particularly in the wireless and CLEC industries. Mr. Hackney represents cellular and personal communications services (PCS) operators and several service providers to the wireless industry. He has advised clients on regulatory matters, including the licensing and auction processes for the PCS industry. For the firm's technology/telecommunications clients, Mr. Hackney has provided securities and financing advice in initial public offerings, venture capital transactions, high-yield debt offerings and other corporate finance transactions. He has been the Co-Chair of the Atlanta Chapter of the Federal Communications Bar Association.
