An American Bar Association News Service article titled “Healthcare reform means legal and practical changes for doctors” quotes AGG Partner Sidney S. Welch. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the healthcare law passed in March 2010, is forcing typical physician practices to change to conform to the regulations, and physicians and their lawyers are working together to define what the new business model for a physician practice should look like. Ms. Welch says that attorneys who represent doctors need to familiarize themselves with the new provisions of healthcare reform so that they can adapt to the changes. They need to understand the parts of the law that specifically impact their clients.
