Governor Appoints Arnall Golden Gregory Attorney
To State Elections Board

ATLANTA, April 15, 2003 - Gov. Sonny Perdue has appointed Arnall Golden Gregory attorney J. Randolph Evans to the State Elections Board.

Evans is general counsel to the Georgia Republican Party and several current and former members of Congress, including House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, House Majority Whip Roy Blunt, former Rep. J.C. Watts and former Speaker Newt Gingrich.

In his national law practice, Evans represents individuals and companies in complex legal disputes and high-profile business and political matters.

The five-member State Elections Board is charged with oversight responsibility for all elections for offices in the state of Georgia. Chaired by Secretary of State Cathy Cox, the board includes two members elected by the General Assembly and one member elected by each political party and then appointed by the governor. Evans is the Republican appointee.

Evans, who succeeds John D. Sours, began his two-year term April 4.
