Complex Insurance Services

The Complex Insurance Services Group consists of fourteen attorneys who handle complex matters involving professionals. The practice involves a number of different areas ranging from complex commercial litigation to government ethics. These attorneys provide both litigation and non-litigation legal services.

Among the litigation services, the Group has handled matters involving attorneys, directors and officers of both for profit and not for profit corporations, architects, financial planners, accountants, real estate agents, brokers and other professionals. This litigation includes both the prosecution and defense of claims against professionals. It also includes the defense of complaints before entities responsible for the licensing, regulation and discipline of professionals.

In addition, the Group has handled class actions involving securities, insurance, and truth in lending matters. The Group also monitors complex litigation, including claims involving directors and officers, and employment practices.

Several of the attorneys in the Group have published a variety of books and articles involving these issues. These include books entitled The Practical Guide to Legal Malpractice Prevention and The Practical Guide to Purchasing Legal Malpractice Insurance. Upcoming books include Financial Planners' Insurance Coverage Guidebook and Accountants' Liability Insurance.

In addition, attorneys in the Group have chaired a variety of committees and sections of various bar associations. The Group includes two former Chairs of the Torts and Insurance Section of the State Bar of Georgia.

Seminars by the attorneys in the Complex Insurance Services Group have included topics on directors and officers liability insurance for PLUS and the ABA; employment practices liability for RIMS, and attorney ethics and liability for the ABA, and various state bar associations. Overall, the Group has given over 100 seminars to over 20,000 professionals throughout the United States.

The Group also provides a variety of non-litigation services. For corporate clients, the Group provides assistance in the evaluation and selection of directors and officers liability insurance. For professional firms, such as lawyers, accountants, architects and financial planners, the Group provides auditing and consulting services to assist in reducing the risks of ethics problems and malpractice claims. Attorneys in the Complex Insurance Services have also served as expert witnesses in legal malpractice cases throughout the United States.
