Donald I. Hackney Jr. is a partner in the firm’s Telecommunications Practice and the Corporate and Securities Practice.
Mr. Hackney focuses his practice in the telecommunications industry, where he represents wireless and wireline carriers and other providers of broadband telecommunications services. His notable transactions have included merger and acquisition deals, wireless affiliation projects, joint ventures and inter-carrier transactions. He has advised clients on regulatory matters, including obtaining licensing and government grants and loans for the firm's telecommunications and technology clients, Mr. Hackney has provided securities and financing advice for venture capital and private equity transactions, high-yield debt offerings and other corporate finance transactions.
Mr. Hackney has served several terms as the Co-chair of the Atlanta Chapter of the Federal Communications Bar Association and serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the Association of Telecom Professionals. From March 1988 to July 1991, he was Senior Corporate Counsel of Contel Corporation, a publicly-held telecommunications company. He represented Contel in its acquisitions, divestitures and other strategic transactions. He and his family have enjoyed traveling through five continents.
