Hiring Philosophy

We believe that our hiring philosophy sets us apart from other law firms. We take great care in our selection process and always hire with an emphasis on developing a long-term relationship between associates and the firm. AGG does not hire, train or develop associates under a system that creates a competitive situation to become a partner, nor do we hire in large numbers with the intention of 'weeding out' associates later.

Our focus is on helping new associates acquire the skills and experience needed to become successful partners. We strongly encourage our attorneys to become involved in the community, pursuing their own interests and passions. We believe these activities not only guard against 'burnout,' but ensure that our associates develop the communication skills and business acumen they will use to add value to client relationships.

Most of our attorney hiring needs are met through our summer associate program. Typical AGG summer classes range from 8-12 law students, which is considerably smaller than the size of summer programs at comparably sized firms. Our experience is that almost all of our summer associates receive offers, most will accept, and few will leave the firm after joining.

Like any leading firm, our attorneys are expected to produce work of the highest quality. Our hiring standards are commensurate with these expectations. We look for candidates with academic excellence, proven commitment and self-motivation. We also want our associates to be well-rounded individuals with the desire to contribute, explore and excel in their personal lives outside of the firm. The diversity of our attorneys' interests has a significant and positive impact on the atmosphere of the firm and its members.
